Taylor Swift released a surprise single yesterday titled Shake It Off, and announced her new album 1989 will be released on October 27.
The song, produced by pop veteran Max Martin, sees Swift abandoning her country routes and taking a bubblegum-pop approach, complete with a Hey Mickey inspired cheerleader breakdown.
Swift said of the song, which is dedicated to ignoring ‘haters':
“People can say whatever they want about us, at any time and we cannot control that. The only thing we can control is our reaction to that.”
Mark Romanek, who directed Michael Jackson’s Scream (the most expensive music video ever), took on the task of creating the video, which features fans of the singer who got the chance to feature in the clip.
